House Removals FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

We always prefer a visit to your home, particularly for large moves. However, if you know the volume or it’s just a few items, we can prepare a quote without a visit. We can also supply a tick-box list by post or email for you to complete and return – if you take this option it may be wise to talk to us about packing requirements if you would like your items professionally packed.

The surveyor will advise or we can help in the office. If the budget is tight, you can do all the packing into your own boxes. Otherwise, we’ll supply the cartons and pack/unpack all or part for you. For overseas moves, we always wrap the furniture and it’s included in the quote so there are no hidden costs.

The cost of sea freight and road freight shipments are based on the total volume of your goods. This is calculated by multiplying the length, breadth and height of the items to give a total volume in cubic feet.

Air freight shipments are calculated on either the actual gross weight or the volume weight of the goods, whichever is greatest.

Your Relocation Consultant will be able to accurately measure your goods at the time of the in-home consultation and provide a relocation quotation based on this measurement.

The cost of your removal can be paid by cheque, cash or bank transfer. Please note that we don t accept credit card payments at a surcharge. We provide a written quotation but will review our pricing if requested.

If your house removal is in Cambodia, then nothing will be opened. If your house removal is international, then in most cases, sole-use containers will be delivered unopened. However, in some countries (e.g. Australia) all containers are unloaded for quarantine inspection. Our destination partners will oversee the process.

We do our best to respect your privacy. However, customs officials reserve the right to inspect goods anywhere in the world. Inspections are therefore beyond our control.

No two relocations are the same, so our quotation will be specifically tailored to your individual requirements.

The following are always included:

  • Supply of all new packing materials
  • Packing of your household goods and personal effects by trained, experienced packers
  • Preparation of an itemized inventory
  • Collection from your home
  • Crating/containerization and delivery to the terminal
  • Preparation of all export documentation and all import documentation for the completion of Customs and Agricultural Clearances
  • Payment of terminal charges
  • Delivery direct to customer house.
  • Unpacking and clearance of all waste materials on day of delivery, as required.

The quotation will exclude any import duties or taxes due in various countries, quarantine examinations if ordered or storage if required.

Your Relocation Consultant will be happy to explain this to you during the in-home consultation.
